Our meetings are the Fourth Thursday of each month.

From September to May, we meet at the GAR Building, 53 East Middle Street. Light refreshments and conversation starting at 7 pm, the program starting at 7:30. Our summer meetings are in the field starting at 6:00 p.m. Please note the meeting location of each meeting.

Whenever treacherous weather is predicted, the CWRT President and Vice President shall determine by noon on that day whether the program should be canceled or not. Announcements will be made on television station WGAL and radio station WGET.

Dr. James S. Robbins

is the Director of the Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence at Trinity Washington University . He has also taught at the National Defense University, U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, VA , and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Medford , MA.  He is a Senior Fellow in national security affairs at the American Foreign Policy Council. He is a former special assistant in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and writes a national security column for National Review Online. His columns have also appeared in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and other publications. He appears regularly on international television and radio including the BBC, Voice of America, Al Jazeera, MSNBC, and FNC among others. His research interests include terrorism and national security strategy, political theory and military history. 

“Last in Their Class: Custer, Pickett and the Goats of West Point .”

Dr. Robbins will discuss his book and various aspects of the personalities and leadership qualities of the men who came in at or near the bottom of the class, and how academic ranking did not automatically correspond to success or failure later in life. He will pay particular attention to the six Goats at Gettysburg. Mr. Robbins had the idea for this book during a Gettysburg staff ride!

Joe Mieczkowski

Joe and his wife, Chris, are members of the living history group The Civilians of Gettysburg . They are also affiliated the Civil War Heritage Foundation. In addition to their living history presentations Joe and Chris are accomplished Victorian dancers. Working with the Civil War Dance Associates they have demonstrated and taught Civil War era dancing.

Joe has written several brochures on the politics of the civil war era. He has studied the battle of Gettysburg extensively, is a Licensed Battlefield Guide (LBG) and member of of the Association of Licensed (Gettysburg) Battlefield Guides. and he holds a Master's degree from the Pennsylvania State University. Joe is also a licensed town guide in historic Gettysburg. Joe and Chris are life members and officers of the renowned Gettysburg Civil War Roundtable. Joe is currently serving as President. Joe also conducts corporate and government leadership training sessions using history as a metaphor.Joe is a senior level federal manager with extensive experience in the Washington DC, Maryland and Pennsylvania areas. They live in Fairfield, PA along the very roads travelled by both Northern and Southern armies.

Joe's authentic impression has been featured in The Civil War Times magazine. They have made presentations at Civil War events and Civil War roundtables around the country, including the prestigious Harrisburg CWRT, re-enactments at Gettysburg, Wheatland (President Buchanan's home) and at The White House.
